Adult Christmas costume ideas

Adult Christmas costume ideas can come in all shapes and sizes. You can go with the traditional Christmas costumes – think elves, reindeer, Santa’s – or you can go with something new and unique. Or you could split the difference, going with something new but not unique at all. Think Michael Jackson or another celebrity celebrating Christmas their own way.

If you want to make your own Christmas costume, but you can’t sew, you will have to sacrifice convenience and easy solutions. Making your own Elf costume isn’t impossible, but you can save some money and have a truly unique Christmas costume this year.

Life sometimes puts way more on our plates than we can manage. Just as you’re recovering from back to school frenzy and are reintegrating driving kids here and there for after school activities, Christmas is upon you before you know it.

If you’ve got a few kids to costume up, it can run into some money. A trip to the dollar store for a few nifty accessories and you’ve got some happy Christmas goers.

Finally, for the really creative, you can make your own Christmas costume with a simple addition or prop. A case in point: my friend made a costume a few years ago when she went as a Christmas tree. She wore a white sweatsuit with a green cape kind of thing covered in tiny little presents and ornaments. As she stood there, she looked… strange.

But when she held out her arms into the air just right… she WAS a Christmas tree. How can you add a simple prop or create a pose that creates an entirely different look? Could be an interesting new thing to try out this year.
