Posted by Veronica on Thursday, 27 October, 2011

Tattoos and nose rings seem to be all the rage these days. You will see them on guys and gals. Before you run off to join the crowd, keep a few safety tips in mind.

Whether you are choosing to pierce ears, lips, noses, eyebrows, tongues, or something a bit more risque, safety and hygiene should be at the top of the check list before you run out and grab a needle.

Only use a professional. Ask questions. Choose wisely.

Choose quality nose ring jewelry. When it comes to choosing body jewelry, ensure you choose quality metals or high carbonate plastics that will work well in your body and not have any complications.

Most body piercing jewelry is either gold with a high karat count or surgical quality stainless steel. Avoid cheap or flimsy body jewelry and focus on the quality instead of the design.

Ancient Types of Nose Rings

Posted by Veronica on Tuesday, 5 July, 2011

Body piercing is an age-old art form that has been used in generations in cultures all around the world. Many individuals today who seek to pierce different parts of their body may choose to do so to make a unique statement of their own.

The first sign of body piercing was the different types of nose rings that were recorded approximately 4,000 years ago in the Middle East. In fact, there is even mention of nose piercing in the Bible.

Nomadic tribes in Africa and the Middle East still practice nose piercing, and often the size and quality of the ring denote the wealth and social status of the wearer. Nose piercing is also common in India, where the left nostril is pierced to prevent medical issues and ease childbirth.

Another piecing popular with ancient cultures and civilizations is the septum piercing. Commonly associated with the “bull ring,” a septum piercing penetrates the space directly between the nostrils. Most ancient tribes pierced their septum in order to promote a fierce or war-like face on their warriors.

Individuals in India, Tibet, and Nepal wear a septum piercing, as do many North American Indian tribes, including the Nez Perce. Australian aboriginals also wear a piercing through the septum and have so for thousands of years.

Inexpensive Toys Are Winners

There is no need to spend a small fortune on toys for Christmas. Plenty of kids toys and games are reasonably priced and if you are buying online, you can find free shipping discounts as well. Take a look at popular inexpensive toys like the Littlest Pet Shop, Ocean In My Pocket Turtle, and Sing a ma jig toy.

Play time is all about imagination and most children certainly do not lack in that department. It is amazing how a simple toy can quickly become a favorite and best friend to a child, complete with names, identities and stories. Yes, children love a toy for reasons other than how much it cost.

Puzzles and board games are also inexpensive fun toys. Chances are, if you enjoyed a game when you were a kid, that same game will be fun now days as well.

The point is to not stress about Christmas presents for the kids. To a child, if it is a wrapped and under the Christmas tree, Santa came.
