Some in cartridges have a protective plastic clip that is the same color as the cartridge. It is an L-shaped clip which makes the cartridge refill appear to be larger than the original one. The printer software remembers the number of pages that have been printed since the cartridge was installed and shows the user an ESTIMATE of the ink remaining. If cartridge printer ink still shows “Empty” it is because the printer utility software has not reset since the replacement of the new cartridge.
