Home Security Assessments
Back in the day, perhaps 2 or 3 generations ago, it was quite rare to see a home with a security alarm fitted (simply called burglar alarms in those times). Part of this was because people had far less stuff to steal and so house burglaries just weren’t anywhere near as commonplace as they are nowadays. We do have a lot more stuff to lose in the twenty-first century and as a consequence burglaries are on the increase. The current financial crises doesn’t help much either, and this has seen many more opportunistic thieves crawl out of the woodwork. But having more material stuff to nick is only half the story. The other problem is that neighbourhoods are no longer sociable and that means people don’t look out for one another’s property when they’re absent as was once the case.
It’s hardly surprising then that the police authorities are constantly giving folks advice on various security home improvement services, alarm types, and measures to make our real estate more secure from thieves and intruders.
The security company’s are having a field day and are always advertising their new security products such as flood lighting, wireless alarm systems, security locks for doors and windows, and so on. It’s important not to buy into the hype though because there’s often a lot of scaremongering tactics used to get people to buy equipment they just don’t need.
If you’re in the market for any kind of alarm systems then do yourself a favour and read up on the home security assessments written by real consumers before you purchase a thing.
Escalating crime is a worldwide problem but that doesn’t mean every home in every neighbourhood needs a security defence system like the Bank of England, but these sales reps will happily sell it to you if they had a chance.
Know your neighbourhood, know your security needs, and you will come away with the right alarm system to suit your requirements specifically.
