Type Of Star Sapphire Stones

Star sapphires are cabochon-cut sapphires that have tiny inclusions that form a star when reflecting light. The star appears to move or float within the rounded dome of the stone, depending on the angle of the light source.

Features Of Star Sapphire Stones

This natural sapphire gemstone is faceted in a round cut with good brilliance from a natural sapphire crystal that was mined in Ceylon. It is unheated and untreated! Under incandescent light this rare natural color sapphire gemstone shows color zones with distinct purple-pink areas and medium dark blue-violet areas (see right side of photo at left), and under daylight it has distinct color zones with some areas showing light blue color and with areas showing dark blue colors (100% natural colors). This natural sapphire gem faces up eye clean, and it contains microscopic inclusions and color zoning (GIA: Type II Gem, VS).
