Learn History from Old National Geographics

National Geographic back issues are a cornucopia of articles that shed light on history, both ancient and contemporary for the times the magazines were published. It is especially intriguing to read issues that came out during times of great cultural upheaval, such as the months leading up to the great wars or the era of the civil rights movement.

You can learn almost about our civilization by looking at the advertisements in old National Geographics as you can by reading the articles and viewing the amazing maps and photographs that accompany each issue.

Find out what was important to society back in the year your parents or grandparents were born (in fact, that is not a bad gift idea!). What cars were being advertised then? How did people in the ads dress? What was important enough to take us space in these fine old magazines?
