Old National Geographics Are a Window to the Past
National Geographic back issues are a fascinating source of information about life back when the issues were published. Besides articles about history and exotic cultures, the quality of writing, subtle biases, photography and advertising are all products of their contemporary culture.
For example, the April 1926 issue has an article by Captain Albert W. Stevens about exploring the Amazon valley by hydroplane as well as advertising for RCA and Stutz motor cars. Old National Geographic magazines are a great original source material for school paper research or just for the adventure of exploring history through the eyes of people several generations removed from us today.
